Demos are cool…
In class, demonstrations are crucial for students to learn and gain experience. Watching a task being accomplished right in front of their eyes can make it more achievable and serve as a great motivator for excellence. I personally use demonstrations frequently, not only in art but also in math and science. Through demonstrations, students can increase the complexity of their achievements by observing, mimicking, and modifying according to their needs.
I sometimes joke with my students, telling them that they are not allowed to copy me because "copyright laws apply." This encourages them to delve deeper into their own creativity and vocabulary. Ultimately, my goal is to create a foundation of knowledge while also inspiring them to seek out new creative possibilities. This allows them to discover their true potential.
