Celebrating community through videos

We developed a great way to celebrate our achievements in class. It was great fun to put all the artwork into videos that could be promoted on social media. The process included everyone and gave us tons of pride.

I particularly enjoyed choosing the student experts, who knew about editing music. It gave the project a contemporary urban feel. Having to collaborate and create a sense of authorship for the students gave our interaction another layer of depth. As the need to select different contemporary music changed so did the experts, and that was ok.

As their teacher, by adopting a supportive role to their music expertise, students felt competent and clear in their judgment. This gave them strength and confidence. I am a firm believer that these small steps and approaches to the everyday relationship accumulate towards something good.
